Swedish artist Johanna Billing invites local San Francisco musicians to spontaneously create and play an original interpretation of the song, “You Don't Love Me Yet” written by American singer-songwriter Roky Erickson. To date, approximately 150 versions of the song have been created by musicians and artists worldwide. In both a hopeful and disillusioned way, the song points out the difficulty of being in a relationship and daring to lose control of oneself. You Don't Love Me Yet brings people together in an inviting encounter between the artist, musicians, and audience members; the catalyst of which is an 80's pop song.
The gallery will host one live performance, a screening of the film You Don’t Love Me Yet, and a presentation of the tour documentation from 2002-2005 of Billing’s long-term project. The You Don’t Love Me Yet project consists of a live music tour and film; since 2002 it has been traveling to international cities from Stockholm, Sweden. San Francisco will be the fifteenth location.
