Daniel J. Glendening's installation consists of an F-15 fighter jet (a long-used military war-tool) constructed out of such innocuous materials as cardboard, masking tape, and string. The installation is confrontational and aggressive--however, beyond the topic of war, Glendening explores how one may reconcile abstract emotion with concrete reality. Somehow we are able to justify war in the face of love, love in the face of war, and both in the face of daily routine. Visual, structural, and conceptual tension figure strongly in Glendening's work, as he riffs on the language of the media, abstract expressionism, and pop culture.
