The Beth Custer Ensemble releases its first full length CD, Respect as a Religion. A funky disk of political tirades such as Empire of the United States and rollicking, hip-slapping songs like High Sense of Adventure, this album features a veritable crme de la crme of Bay Area musicians including long time collaborator Jan Jackson on drums, Coup and Spearhead guitarist David James, cellist Marika Hughes, iconic pianist Graham Connah, Jeff Cressman on trombone and Craig Broussard on bass.

Custer's Last Stand is co-curated by The LAB's composer-in-residence Beth Custer and sponsored by Meet The Composer's New Residencies program. Funding for New Residencies was provided by The Pew Charitable Trusts with additional support from the National Endowment for the Arts and other generous supporters.
