The LAB presents an exhibition of international visual artwork in conjunction with the Bayennale 2005. Featuring a performative installation by Polish artist Monika Weiss entitled Lethe, Drawing River based on the mythological river of forgetfulness. Weiss will invite audience members to participate or simply enter the performance, creating a communal space inside of The LAB's main gallery. London-based artist Stephen Walter will exhibit his careful, detailed landscape drawings and create spontaneous, live work inspired by the local signs and symbols of San Francisco throughout the duration of the exhibition.

The LAB's Opening Night Party will kick off the first-ever Bayennale. The Bayennale is an international open invitation for visual and performance artists from around the world to make their way to the Bay Area to join with local artists to create and perform new work in venues ranging from the gallery to the street and shipping containers magically transformed into art-spaces for the event. The Bayennale is sponsored by the Port of Oakland, and is the brainchild of conceptual artist Lowell Darling.
